Is Odysseus a Hero?

Is Odysseus a Hero?
By: Michael Boarman
I think that Odysseus is a hero because instead of being cruel to his crew he is kind and cares for his crew like a hero should. An example of how Odysseus is a hero is that he doesn’t whip or hurt his crew he helps them when they need it and rescues them when they need it. He does this because he knows that his crew is all he has and that they are like a family. Odysseus is a hero because he fights for the rights of his people and he is a great fighter who does what is right. He fights for the rights of his people by going to war to increase the wealth and the health of his people. He fights for his peoples rights by sending the people who caused the suffering away (the suitors). My conclusion for this topic is that Odysseus is a hero because he has a kind heart and fights for the rights of his kingdom and for the rights of his people. Odysseus is a true and honorable hero.
I think that Odysseus is a hero because he is strong, he fights for his rights, and works all day long to serve his people. An example is that throughout the book Odysseus does everything to get back home to help his people. He does this because he works all day long and is a strong ruler and he knows that others are trying to take away what he put hard work and sweat into making. He fights for his rights by fighting against the suitors who stole what was rightfully his. He is strong and a hard worker because he spends his day by not thinking about himself, but what he can do for his kingdom and his people. My conclusion is that Odysseus is a strong, a fighter, and a hard worker is because he has the while and the stride to do what others cant and goes where others can never go.

  1. Your paragraph does not cite specific examples of the Hero's Journey, nor does it specifically reference action from the assigned chapter readings.
