Macbeth" being a man" blogging assignment

Macbeth “being a man” blogging assignment
By: Michael Boarman
English 10: Guys 4th hour
12/12/10

My first quote is on act 4 scene 3 lines 252 through 254. “Malcolm: Let’s make us medicines of our great revenge to cure this deadly grief. In this quote Macduff’s family has been savagely slaughtered and Malcolm tells Macduff to take it like a man and turn the sorrow into rage and anger towards Macbeth so that he will fight better.

My second quote is on act 5 scene 3 lines 38 through 40. “Macbeth: I’ll fight from my bones my flesh be hacked. Give me my armor.
Seyton: Tis not needed...” In this quote Macbeth knows he needed to fight his enemy like a man and do what a king and a man must do for his country. He is told not to, but he knows if he doesn’t he would be thought of as a coward and not a man.

My third quote is on act 5 scene 3 lines 19 through 20. “ Macbeth: Those linen cheeks of thine are counselors to fear”. In this quote the servant tells Macbeth of how many soldiers there are and that he should just give up, but Macbeth knows that the servant is a coward and a fool to try and give up so he knows that he must fight Malcolm and Macduff.

My fourth quote is on act 5 scene 5 lines 18 through 19. “Macbeth:  Wherefore was that cry?
Sayton: The Queen my lord, is dead
Macbeth: She should have died hereafter.”
In this quote Macbeth finds out that his beloved wife is dead, but he knows that to be a man you must take the sorrows out of life and turn them into anger which u can then use against your opponent.

My fifth and last quote describing how to be a man in the world of Macbeth is on act 5 scene 7 lines 1 through 4. “Macbeth: They have tied me to a stake. I cannot fly, but, bear-like, I must fight the course. What’s he that was not born of woman? Such one am I to fear, or none.” In this quote Macbeth is surrounded in a tower and his enemies are all around him. He knows that a man would fight to the death and a coward would give up, so Macbeth fights the intruders like a man would.
Overall I believe that the quotes I have just stated really give a example for “being a man” in the life of Macbeth.

Odyssey Theme writing assignment

Odyssey Theme writing assignment

I believe that the overall them of the book is do too others that you would like to be done too yourself, loyalty is very important and don’t betray them. An example of this is when Odysseus has the suitors trapped and Odysseus said “You Dogs! You never imagined id return to troy so cocksure that you bled my house to death, ravished my serving- women wooed my wife behind my back while I was still alive...” (Page 140 Line: 36-42)Your doom is sealed. The suitors had tried to take Odysseus’s world and like my theme the suitors treated Odysseus like he was dead and Odysseus returned the favor by killing all the people who tried to take away his kingdom.

Another example that goes with my scene is when Penelope waits and waits for the suitors to go away, but eventually her faith pays off and she decides to confront the suitors. “You Antinous Violent, vicious, scheming you, Madman, why do you wave destruction towards Telemachus”. (Page 351 Line: 43-46) In this quote Penelope finds out that the suitors have planned to kill Telemachus so that it will be easier to marry Penelope, but after years of being patient with the suitors her faith pays off and she tells the suitors never to plan the death of Telemachus again and not to betray her ever again.

Another example of my version of the books theme is when Odysseus and his crew are stuck on a boat and instead of betraying there captain and loose loyalty because of lack of food and water the keep going and stay loyalty to there mighty captain. “As long as our food and ruddy hold out, the crew, eager to save their lives, kept hands off the herds. (Page 281 Line: 352-353)”. The crew showed loyalty by not killing the valuable herd and not betraying there captain because they knew that the captain and done some much for them so like how they would want to be treated they treated Odysseus with the highest respect and loyalty.

Overall I believe that my theme has to do with the book because throught the book people had betrayed and had to pay for it with there lives. The people that didnt die where the people that didnt betray and have always and will always be loyal good people.

Is telemachus a hero? (rewrite)

I believe that Telemachus is a hero because he will for his entire life fight for what he believes in, he trys to find the king of ithaca so that Ithaca can go back to being a great country, he may be young but he will fight for the rights of his people and for the rights of his kingdom. An example is even when he is told that his father is dead he still does not believe and travels all over to try and find his father. He fights for his rights of his people by not letting his mother mary a suior and making sure the suitors dont try anything stupid like trying to take over Ithaca. Telemachus is a hero by searching for his father because his father is in the scariest worst places to be and telemachus still believes he is alive and still wantsd to help him. My conclusion to this is that Telemachus may e seen by many as a coward and a child but in my mind telemachus is a true genuine hero.

Is Odysseus a Hero?
By: Michael Boarman
I think that Odysseus is a hero because instead of being cruel to his crew he is kind and cares for his crew like a hero should. An example of how Odysseus is a hero is that he when on calypsos’ island doesn’t try to take over but try’s to live like the people and join the people so that they can flourish with each other.  He does this because he knows that these people saved him from the ocean and helped regain health and stature. Odysseus is a hero because he fights for the rights of his people and he is a great fighter who does what is right. He fights for the rights of his people by going to war to increase the wealth and the health of his people. He fights for his peoples rights by sending the people who caused the suffering away. My conclusion for this topic is that Odysseus is a hero because he has a kind heart and fights for the rights of his kingdom and for the rights of his people. Odysseus is a true and honorable hero.
I think that Odysseus is a hero because he is strong, he fights for his rights, and works all day long to serve his people. An example is that throughout the book Odysseus does everything to get back home to help his people. He does this because he works all day long and is a strong ruler and he knows that others are trying to take away what he put hard work and sweat into making. He fights for his rights by fighting against the suitors who stole what was rightfully his. He is strong and a hard worker because he spends his day by not thinking about himself, but what he can do for his kingdom and his people. My conclusion is that Odysseus is a strong, a fighter, and a hard worker is because he has the while and the stride to do what others cant and goes where others can never go.

The review of the article read in school about Joe Mauer

I believe that Joe Mauer should not be just the sail because if only one person is controlling the boat and doing everything then you're just going to get lost in the middle of no where. What the Twins need is teamwork, Hard work, and Spirit.
The reason why the Twins need teamwork is because if Joe Mauer is doing everything then no one else can do anything and u are putting way to much power and responsibility in someones hands. If you spend more time with your pitchers then they can be working harder and start pitching better.
I know the Twins are working very hard, but not enough. The Twins really want Joe Mauer to do really good in these few post season games, but he is already good. What they need to start focusing on the fielders and pitching. You cant put the teams work o one single person you are going to loose. If the Twins would stop worrying os much on Joe Mauer and his hitting because thats only half the game. To stop the other team from winning you need good pitching and the Twins do not have that.
The Twins are acting like if they didn't have Joe they wouldn't win any game. Well they are wrong, if they just keep their spirits up and focus on other players and teamwork then they will do fine. Joe Mauer shouldn't be the sail he should be the first-mate an the coach should be  the captain. Joe Mauer should act like a leader, but not have to do everything for the team because like last night they'l loose!!

double bubble map Luke Skywalker from "Star Wars" and Doug from "Blue DIamond"

pastedGraphic.pdf

The reason why doug goes so far is to help a friend. A comparison is that Doug saves his friend while Obi-wan luke's friend and mentor dies a terrible unwanted death. When Doug gets in the car he looks in the glove compartment and realizes that his friend is going to kill himself. So he says to his friend let me out, but his friend wont slow down. Though doug wanted to leave he knew that he shouldn't. So he decides to do everything in his power to stop his friend from killing himself. Doug wanted to help his friend because he cared dearly for that friend and so did the friends family that is why he kept going and that is why he did not stop until he had saved his friend from suicide.

The reason why Han Solo came back to help Luke is because they where dear friends. He tries to mask the reason why by saying "I couldn't let u get all the credit". Though Luke isn't told the true reason he truly knows why Han Solo came back.
The reason why I think that Han Solo came back because of friendship is because there is no other reason for him to come back.

I think that the heroes friend is the muscle of the group. An example in Star Wars is chewbacca or Han Solo he is based more on physical strength than metal strength like the hero Luke. An example is when Han try's to shoot a magnetic door to get out which didn't work the laser just shot all over the room. The reason why i think the friend is the muscle is because they are the helpers, the have do do things that u need physical strength to do.
